Weekend Workouts: 5/29-5/31

This weekend’s weather was perfect for a weekend full of outdoor activities!  I do still need to get my community pool pass so I can start swimming outside instead of at the Y, note to self: make time this week to do that!

Friday 5/29
This was a scheduled off day, but I did my 1 mile run to continue my RW run streak (day 5).

Saturday 5/30
Saturday was my first race since March and boy was it tough–the heat and hills got to me!  I ran the Run for the Dream 8K in Williamsburg, VA.  Full race report coming this week. (RW run streak day 6)

Sunday 5/31
I considered doing some pool running after my swim today, but all of the sudden around 11am I felt like going for a run outside. I did 1.25 miles to continue my RW run streak (day 7).  My legs felt surprisingly well-rested.

After running I did a little stretching outside then came back in and did an upper body workout (bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, shoulder press, chest press on an exercise ball).

The afternoon’s workouts:

900 yd swim (same as earlier this week) in 24:11 (including rest breaks).  I took over a minute off my time!  Super excited about that.

After the swim, I did a bike ride at the Yorktown Battlefield and into Yorktown.  It was hot, I ran out of water and the pace was slower than normal (and there were a few stop signs we were delayed at where I didn’t stop my watch).  Still, a nice ride, just need to strengthen my quads to get up over those hills!

It was a great weekend of training, excited for the upcoming week!
