TotR: My Support System (We’re talkin’ bras here)

Happy Tuesday!  Today I’m linking up with Erika, April and Patty for Tuesdays on the Run Link up.  Today’s topic: Running Bras aka my support system.

I’m going to say it: being an athlete with a larger chest is just awful.  There are so many cute built in bra tops and bras that you just pullover to put on…but no, us gals with a larger chest need to be strapped down to avoid the bouncing that comes with walking, running, cycling…just about everything but sitting still, and you basically have to be a contortionist to be able to hook the back.  I have finally mastered the art of hooking a racerback sports bra with regular bra hooks, but there was a time when Tyler would have that job (hey, it’s part of being a sherpa).

That said, I do have a couple of favorites.

My #1 go to bra for running/cycling is the Moving Comfort Rebound Racer.  No bounce, very comfortable adjustable straps that don’t dig in, affordable and it actually comes in cute colors (i.e. colors other than white and black). Bonus, some colors are on sale now at Brooks.  I also wear this bra during triathlons, however, it does not dry quickly.

My go to bra for strength training has been the Lululemon Energy Bra, which is a medium-support bra is very comfortable, and again, affordable.  I’ve been wearing the same one for over a year now, and it seems to be holding up well. BUT as the golden rule states: a bra should note celebrate a birthday!

So, with that rule in mind, here are a few bras I would like to try:

Now that I run for Oiselle (I will do a post on that in the future!!), I would love to wear more bras that they make!

Oiselle Bra-zen. This could easily become a new option for cycling for me or even for work.  I hear really good things about this one, and who doesn’t love seamless?

Oiselle Verrazano Bra.  Again, this would be a good bra for cycling and strength training for me.

I’m hoping in the (near) future Oiselle will come out with a super supportive running bra for us gals with a D-cup.

Do you have a favorite running bra?

Happy Sweating!

  1. I’m nowhere near a D cup, but I’ve been liking the Kelly bra from Skirt Sports. It’s my only really supportive bra. (I don’t go by age on bras or mileage on shoes – I can tell when my older bras are not dong the job as well as the new ones and then out they go. Same thing with shoes.)
