Weekly Sweat Report: 3/14-3/20

With race season upon us, it’s time to kick it into high gear!  Enter: the weekly sweat report.  Each week I’ll give you the rundown on the daily sweats, what worked, what didn’t…you get the point. Now let’s get started.

Monday-rest! After the One City Marathon Relay I needed a rest day.  I’m still slightly fearful of re-injuring my IT band so I didn’t want to take any chances.

Tuesday-
Swim. I did a total of 800 meters alternating between freestyle stroke and kicking with the kickboard.  I’m not a strong swimmer and I tend to just use my arms while I’m swimming so forcing myself to kick is something I’m working on.

Plyometrics #1 of the week.

Wednesday-stretching-I felt so blah after a day of wearing a lead apron (at work) and then working late to catch up on patient phone calls.

Thursday-rest. Need to get out of this late week rest day crap–I do think it is due to long days at work coupled with a race on the weekend over the past two weeks, but there should really be no excuse.

Friday-rest-race on Saturday.

Saturday-the Shamrock 8K-if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you know it was a great race and a surprise PR, especially with the brutal headwinds! Race report coming soon!

Sunday-
Plyometrics #2 of the week
Yoga-much needed stretching after Saturday’s race!

Goal for this week: 1. hit all of my workouts on my schedule. Now that my spring running races are over and I don’t have another one until October, it’s time to put full focus on triathlon season and 2. eat more veggies. I’ve been eating like complete crap lately and need to clean up my diet a bit.

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap!

  1. Welcome to the Weekly Wrap Stacey! It’s funny you say you mostly use your arms while swimming. I’m the opposite and mostly use my legs. My form is horrible! Congratulations on getting a PR at the Shamrock 8k. Don’t you love surprises like that? I haven’t been eating as well as I should either. It’s just pure laziness on my part. Thanks for linking with us. I hope to see you here again next week.

  2. So very glad to have you join us for the Weekly Wrap Stacey! Oh gosh I cringe when you said you too had IT band troubles. I too deal with them but the last few months have been quiet thankfully! Great job on a PR! That is awesome and just the best when it is a surprise! Thanks again for linking up with us! I do hope you will join us again.

  3. Congratulations on your PR. There aren’t many 8k races over here but I think it’d be fun to do that distance as a race.

I want to improve my swimming. I think my first step would be to buy some goggles so I can put my face in the water as I know that will help!

  4. Congrats on the PR! I think you’re doing great with your workouts — remember, it’s about progress, not perfection (same thing with the veggies, although I love veggies & start to crave them if I can’t have them).

Congrats on the PR! Surprise PRs are the absolute best! I’ve heard such great things about Shamrock and hope to do it one year.
