Friday Five: Smithfield Triathlon Goals

Happy Friday! It’s Smithfield Triathlon eve and I’m linking up with Courtney, Cynthia and Mar today to talk about my goals for tomorrow!

1. Sub 40 min bike (10 miles). Totally doable, I did my last hard training 10-miler on Sunday and finished in 36:33 min.

2. Sub 30 min run (5K). On Sunday I did a 3-miler off the bike in 27:51, I know I can do this!

3. Take don’t rush through transition. Last year during the pink power triathlon, I forgot to grab my water bottle off my bike for the run and I was miserable–I don’t even think I drank any fluids until 1.5 miles into the run!

4. Don’t let the hill on the bike portion psych me out–the course map even warns to downshift prior to approaching the hill.  Yikes!

5. Stay warm, have fun and finish with a smile on my face!

The forecast isn’t look pretty, in fact it’s looking like it’s going to be 60 degrees and rainy-not ideal, but at least there are no longer thunderstorms in the forecast!

Are you racing this weekend? If so, any race specific goals? If not racing, fun do you have planned for the weekend?

  1. I hope you conquer all your goals for tomorrow and I hope the weather cooperates! Most of all…HAVE FUN! I do have a race this weekend as well. It’s 20K all day they call it at the Carlsbad 5000. 4 5ks in a row. I am excited because I never run 5ks so I don’t have any goals – I guess just not pooping out by the last one! Have a great race tomorrow!!

  2. I’ve got a 5 mile race Sunday. Talk about not ideal: windy, 20s, and snow. No fooling! And then I have 5 more miles to run afterwards.

But I get to meet up with friends, if they don’t chicken out.

    Good luck!
