Conquering the Cold

This winter, I’ve teamed up with Yaktrax, Dry Guy and Falke as a Cold Conqueror Ambassador to show that you don’t have to be stuck indoors all winter-you can get outside and train for your early spring races!

So far, it’s been a mild and wet winter with a few really cold days here in northern Virginia. I mean, today it’s going to be in the 50s with some rain off and on. Not exactly winter weather. Hopefully we’ll get a couple of good snowfalls over the next month (I love snow), but for now it’s all about staying warm and dry on the run.

Oiselle Softshell Mittens + Yaktrax Hand warmers. I paired these together on a cold and windy (19 degrees) for a 5 mile run a couple of weeks ago and my hands stayed nice and toasty the entire time. I expected my palms to stay warm because of the hand warmers BUT the backs of my hands didn’t feel the wind/get cold.

Since it’s been a very wet winter, the Dry Guy Force Dry DX Boot Dryer has been a game changer. Instead of having to reschedule a back to back run after a rainy run because my shoes are soaked, my Hokas are dry in a couple of hours ensuring I get back out there the next day for my run.

Saucony Run Dry Brisk Long Sleeve shirt. My go to tops are the Lululemon Run Swiftly tops, but since I’m training outside all winter I wanted something a bit thicker to wear. Luckily, I received the Brisk Long sleeve top as a Christmas gift. I love this top-it’s soft, it’s warm, the herringbone print is just plain awesome and the thumbholes are perfectly placed–something I’m picky about. (To note, this is just a personal favorite of mine and is not Cold Conqueror-related/sponsored)

I have yet to try the Yaktrax RUN traction because of the lack of snow, but I’ve got to talk about these-Yaktrax makes some great traction. In the past, I’ve used traction on my shoes that felt so heavy, but just trying these on my shoes I barely notice them. I also like the strap that goes across the top of my foot and all of the reflective details. Fingers-crossed for some winter weather so I can test these out!!

As always, thank you Erika, Patty and Marica for hosting the Tuesdays on the Run linkup!

Please note:  As a part of the Cold Conqueror team these companies have sent me products to put through the wringer, but all opinions are my own.

What is your go-to running gear for winter?

The boot dryer looks amazing, I’ve never seen that before! Every winter I think about buying Yaktraks but haven’t made the plunge yet!
